Entrepreneurship for a Successful Nation

High unemployment has always been one of the biggest dilemmas in the country, and people must be aware that this is happening, even if they are not affected by this. What are the causes of this issue? Fewer businesses, few job offers.

The inadequacy of the economy increases poverty as well, and the fact that the Philippines are exporting their workers, not employing them. The Philippines is a labor exporting country. We send Professionals, skilled workers, and domestic workers abroad. They usually refuse to work in the country because the Philippines have fewer opportunities in manufacturing or even agriculture. So this makes them prefer to work abroad where employment rates are high, and when a pandemic occurs or a tragedy, this results in them going back to the country, which adds up to the already-high unemployment rate. This also causes the scarcity of having competitions against big companies which results in fewer workers. Fewer job offers in the country, fewer people can work.

Business competition is really necessary because it offers more work for Filipinos. A single company cannot dominate everything. If more people made businesses then a few Filipinos choose to go abroad. And if the government took good care of these Filipino citizens, proper taxes, no corruption, then they would prefer to work for the country and help it grow like the neighbors of the Philippines

Terraforming Mars: Dyson Sphere

 By Jan Emmy Julve

Mars is very cold despite its red color. Its surface is also Radioactive, making the  ground very poisonous. Its atmosphere is also made up of CO2. It has low gravity and  magnetic field. I've read a lot of books and researched about this (because I love learning  about Space), they said, it truly is possible, and it is called terraforming, however, it  would take years! First, we have to build a Dyson sphere (is a megastructure that fully surrounds a star and captures a large percentage of its power output.) This would serve  our semi-permanent energy output to colonize mars because we couldn't just go directly  into the surface with our limited energy. Next, we build our processor to process the Dyson sphere in Mercury. Since it is the closest to the Sun. There, we would manufacture the Dyson sphere. It would take a very long time because our current  technology and materials cannot afford it. But again, it is possible, it would just take us  years. So using the energy from the Dyson sphere it would make terraforming much easier and more efficient. So imagine, we have a Dyson sphere, which gives us unlimited energy (from the Sun) . It would be much easier for us to send humans and materials from Earth to the red planet. And this reminds me of the saying, We are the  middle children of history. Born too late to explore Earth, born too early to explore  space.

Reflection Paper on I-Witness: "Mga Anak ng Pugad Lawin"

 By Jan Emmy Julve

The Era of Dependency on Technological Advancement

 By Jan Emmy Julve

The reliance that we have developed on various forms of technology is growing.  The realm of technology is something that we, the children of the 21st century, are born into. From the manner in which we communicate to the manner in which we travel, in the process of meeting new people, in the process of buying our things, or in the process of cooking our meals, and so many other things to list. The advancement of technology has made our lives simpler. And certainly, I can say that I, along with a great number of other people, are unable to give up on technology.

People have been sending mail to their loved ones as far back as the 1800s, and some have even paid others to send their mail on their behalf. It was an old form of communication. Then a revolution in technology occurred, which simplified our methods of communication. We no longer needed to travel to other locations in order to converse or send mail; all that was required was a single click on our mobile phones. If you were to tell someone who had lived in the 1800s about this one, about the way we communicate, they probably wouldn't believe that we had progressed this far, they would think we are idiots, but the truth is that we did, and it's all thanks to technological  advancements.

So, if I were to sit here and try to fathom what life would be like without technology.  I wouldn't be typing this long rant about technology on my laptop; rather, I'd be standing outside in the bright sunlight, searching for light so that I can write on paper with a quill pen (wow Shakespeare). On a hot summer day, I wouldn't be able to appreciate the cool air from the air conditioner. I wouldn't be able to keep up with all of my favorite Netflix shows and anime. I wouldn’t be able to travel quickly from one place to another whenever there are tiring school errands. I would also have been dressed differently. Because these clothes I am wearing are products of technology. My reasons are trivial and petty, and I’m sure there are others who have more reasonable concerns about what would occur in their lives if technological advancements are not made. But these are my reasons.

Reasonable reasons like, society will crumble, the speed at which information can be transmitted will be slowed, and we will be unable to determine whether we are being attacked by terrorists or other nations in this region of our country. We were unable to keep up with the latest trends. The development of our educational system would go more slowly, because there we couldn’t research quickly on the internet, and research also contributes to the betterment of our society. Everything is interconnected and related. The advent of technology has brought us together. It is a terrifyingly beautiful concept for me.

So no, technology is hard to let go, (like an old toxic lover). We owe a lot to technology. We are now in a situation where we are really reliant on it. And as for me, I don't consider it to be an entirely negative thing at all. We are humans who are responding to the changes that are occurring in our environment, and I believe that it is very normal for us to adapt to technology and to become dependent on it. We should just put it to good use and keep our fingers crossed that this will not also lead to our demise.

A Critical Analysis of Jose Garcia’s Footnote to Youth and ES Godin’s Bingo!

By Jan Emmy Julve

Footnote to Youth and Bingo! are two Filipino short stories that show how Filipinos usually think  and decide. They typically make hasty decisions, and their irresponsibility will make the situation more  unfortunate. Filipinos get moved by their emotions quickly as well. When they are committed to  something, they will do anything for it.
In the short story, Footnote to Youth, Dodong, the main character, concluded that getting married  was the right choice. He did not think thoroughly about what will be the consequences of his decision. It  was his rash decision. He did not think appropriately enough that his future life would be very much  affected. In the short story, BINGO! Balat, or most of the characters, surrendered their lives to gambling.  It was not just a form of entertainment; it was their life. Both stories showed how serious they are in their  decisions; one was serious about married, the other was too focused on gambling—because it is their  passion already.
The places of the stories were also a primary reason for their irresponsibility and naive-ness.  Growing up in a remote province and a Shantytown would undoubtedly affect a person's behavior.  People who reside in shanty towns are most likely to pamper themselves in gambling. Moreover, this  swayed the behavior of the character-- Balat. She declined her responsibility to join gambling.
These days, teenagers are prone to deciding without thinking coherently. I can somehow agree to  that. Emotions often dominate my judgments. Emotions frequently destroy my proper plans. I sometimes  choose because I crave to have it, to satisfy my emotional side. Without even thinking, is it necessary?  Would it logically change a thing? Or would it just make me temporarily happy? Gambling was their  happiness; it was Balat's choice to indulge her into that, without knowing the destructive effects of it—it  made her happy. Same with Footnote to Youth, it made Dodong get to taste temporary excitement,  fleeting happiness.
Our today affects our future. Our careless decisions affect what we will become; it is a domino  effect. It is genuinely lovely to choose the things we want. However, we must have to possess the power of thinking; our mind is capable of thinking. And we must use it, rather than getting swayed by our  feelings-- And regret afterward.
